THE WATCHMAN – Part 2
But shepherds cannot measure faithfulness by earthly cost,
Nor count the price of reputation against the souls they’ve lost.
The question isn’t whether speaking truth will cause them pain,
The question is whether silence leaves the sheep without a warning again.

For God told Ezekiel that the watchman must declare,
That when he sees the danger approaching, he must sound the warning there.
If he sees the danger coming and refuses to raise his voice,
The silence carries consequences far beyond a human choice.

The Watchman must remain awake when others fall asleep,
He must remember he was called to guard the ones entrusted to his keep.
He does not need to shout with anger, hatred, or disdain,
He simply needs to speak the truth and make the warning plain.

Stand upon the wall, Watchman, though the night is long,
Stand firmly in the truth of God when others say you’re wrong.
Do not confuse compassion with refusing truth to say,
For sometimes love must sound the alarm before the break of day.
.
Tell the congregation what the Scriptures say is right,
And tell them when the forces of the world oppose the Light.
Don’t tell them whom to vote for, or what political side,
Tell them what the Word of God has spoken and abide.
.
And if the Watchman falters, if his voice refuses sound,
Then every faithful Christian has a duty to look around.
Tell those within your circle what the Scriptures teach is true,
Warn the people God has placed within the reach of you.

You don’t need a title, you don’t need a stage.
You don’t need a pulpit, you need courage for the age.
For every Christian has a circle where his voice is known,
A family, friend, or neighbor who may hear the truth alone.
Speak with grace and speak with love, but never hide the truth,
For someone may be waiting for the warning you can give.

The Watchman isn’t promised comfort, he isn’t promised praise.
He is simply given duty through the darkness of his days.
He stands because God commanded; he warns because he must,
And leaves the consequences in the hands of God he trusts.
.
For one day every Watchman will answer for his care,
For every warning given and each silence standing there.
And when the Lord asks, “What did you do when you knew?”
May we be able to answer, “Lord, I told them what was true.”
.
So stand upon the wall, Watchman, and look across the land,
Hold tightly to God’s Word and firmly make your stand.
Don’t wait until tomorrow to tell what should be heard,
For yesterday’s protection cannot come from today’s word.
.
The world may call you foolish, the world may call you strange.
The world may say that standing firm is something out of range.
But truth does not grow weaker because people disagree,
And God’s Word does not become less true because it’s hard to see.
.
The Watchman has one duty when the sword begins to appear:
Sound the warning. Speak the truth. Make the message clear.
Do not hide behind your comfort, reputation, fear, or gain,
For those entrusted to your care deserve the warning plain.
.
The hour is late, the wall is high.
The darkness gathers near,
The Watchman sees the coming danger,
Will the Watchman sound the warning—or disappear in fear?
.
And if the voice upon the wall should ever fall silent there,
May another faithful Christian rise and answer with a prayer.
For God still calls His people to be watchmen in the night,
To point the lost toward Jesus Christ, the Truth, the Life, the Light.
.
So hear the call, dear Christian friend, wherever you may stand,
Be faithful with the truth of God entrusted to your hand.
The Watchman has a solemn task before the morning’s dawn:

To warn those who are waiting and to point them toward the Son.
