Seventy-Four – I’m Sore

Seventy-Four & I’m Sore – Randy Pauley: Lyrics – Frank Poland: Arrangement/Music

.

.

      SEVENTY-FOUR AND I’M SORE
.

I arise at the early light of morn,

And turn my body toward the sun to warm.

The aching and stiffness of these old bones,

The wrinkles in my face and the hair that is gone,

Give evidence of the many years I’ve known.

I sigh and remember those days gone by,

When I ran like a deer and jumped so high.

I remember when my knees moved without pain,

Now they serve to forecast rain.

As I sit here and lament of my present state,

I’m reminded of my blessings so many and so great.

And though the vigor of my youth may be gone,

I still have my wife, my family and my home.

So, I’ll give thanks for all God has given,

And pray he lets this old man keep on living.
