My Addiction: Frank Poland – Lyrics & Music – Frank Poland’s personal experience fishing for trophy largemouth bass!
My Addiction
I’ve spent a lifetime chasing the largemouth bass
Through sunrise, mornings and lunch, the days went fast
With every cast, the reel spinning in each case
The joy, the thrill, the feel of the endless chase
.
The tackle, the gas, the miles, the catches I failed
With my Hydra-sport engine spraying a rooster tail
Countless hours, many dollars that I’d spend
Hunting a trophy bass in the sun, rain and wind
.
I woke each dawn with a place in mind
A line in the water, with a largemouth to find
With every cast my hope would soar
Seeking a largemouth bigger than the one before
.
Years rolled past like the ripples a lure makes
Each cast, a Prayer, hopefully answered for my sake
A trophy promised, just out of reach
This largemouth fish, a lesson I’d teach
.
In dawn’s soft glow, the water glassy still
With a rod in hand, I could feel the thrill
The water beautiful, with a silver gleam
As I cast again and again, I dared to dream
.
Bam! a strong hard tug upon my line
Excitement stirred, thinking this big fish is mine
Landing this largemouth, what a dream for my wall
A mounted bass, a story to forever recall
.
Finally, it broke the surface, I set the hook
A monster in scales, another leap it took
We danced in circles, a watery waltz
Just stay on, please, till I land you in my boat
.
I gotcha, earned by winning the tug and test
The cost, the sweat, the endless quest
And though the price was hefty to pay
It now graces my trophy wall, never getting away
.
Today I have four trophies hanging on the wall
A fact, a witnessing my diligence to one and all
Each fish a story, about the battle I fought
With proof, seeing the four bass I caught
.
For what is time and money, a fleeting thing
With each one mounted, my story to sing
I’ve fished many years, and what I’ve won
Is a legacy, reflecting my fishing addiction,
.
Now, forever over and done!
